My name is Kevin Maloney I have been a volunteer firefighter with the Budd Lake New Jersey Volunteer Fire Department since 1991. Over the years I have held every fire officer position in the fire service and currently hold the office of Fire Chief for the Budd Lake Fire Department. My passion for fire photography started in 1992 and over the years have photographed many emergency scenes, documenting the heroic men and women of the emergency services. I currently am a member of the New Jersey Metro Fire Photographers Association which I joined in 1992, the International Organization of Fire Photography and a correspondent for Fire News a monthly publication that is dedicated to the fire service as well as magazines like Firehouse and Fire Engineering.

One Room Knock Down in Stanhope : Sunday late afternoon June 22nd the Stanhope Fire Department responded to 15 Hill Ave. for the house fire. Chief Donahue arrived and reported a working fire and requested the Netcong and Bryam fire departments for manpower as well as Budd Lake Fire for the FAST assignment. After a quick exterior knock down a crew went in and knocked down the rest of the fire and performed overhaul operations in the back bedroom. The Netcong fire company vented the roof as crews entered into a basement door and checked for extension. The fire was under control in a half hour with no reported injuries. Photos by Kevin Maloney

Flanders Firefighters Tackle Three Trailer Fires In Two Days : Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12  kept firefighters busy with three trailer fires at the Morris County Transfer Station on Gold Mine Rd. Around 2:30 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to the station for a report of a trailer on fire. Car 90 arrived an instructed Tower 96 to set up next to the trailer and start operations out of the bucket, after stretching to a hydrant on site and finding it was dead Budd Lake Firefighters were called to the scene to assist with water after fixing the water problem  Tower 96 started knocking down the fire and then the workers dumped the trailer onto the pad as firefighters from 96 and Budd Lake’s Squad 56 pulled apart the pile and wet it down. Several hours later a call came in for a second trailer on fire on the site. Once again Flanders and Budd Lake went to work on the trailer with tower 96 setting up again using Engine 53and 95's foam the fire was knocked down. Flanders firefighters remained on the scene with Haz-Mat and County officials till 4:00 a.m.. Then Saturday night around 11:00 p.m. companies were back at the transfer station again for a trailer on fire as the others crews went to work putting out the fire, this one lasted until around 2:00 a.m.. All three fires are under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s office. There were no injuries reported at the fires. Photo's By Kevin Maloney

Hanover Township Fire Companies Battle Condo Fire : Hanover Fire Companies responded Saturday afternoon July 19th around 3:30 pm to the Oak Ridge at Hanover complex at 1205 Fox Chase Lane off of Parsippany Road in the Whippany fire district for the reported Condo on fire. Companies had heavy smoke, fire and extremely hot 90 plus weather to contend with so a large 13 department mutual aid response was ordered. With several hand lines and ladders in service the fire was brought under control in two hours. At least two condo units were destroyed during the fire. Fire departments and rescue squads from all over Morris County were on the scene, including Whippany, Cedar Knolls, Madison, Florham Park, East Hanover, Morris Twp., Chatham, Morristown, Lincoln Park, Roseland, New Vernon, Chatham Twp., Atlantic Health System Mobile Intensive Care Unit and Morris Plains. Two firefighters were sent to the hospital for unknown reasons. The fire is under investigation by the Hanover, police, the Morris County’s Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit and the county Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations unit. Photo's By Kevin Maloney

Roxbury and Budd Lake Tackle Car Fire on Rt. 80 : Saturday afternoon in the hot July heat firefighters from Roxbury and Budd Lake were called to a car fire on Rt.80 west at exit 27. Budd Lake Car 50 arrived and reported a working fire as Roxbury’s Engine 22 and Budd Lake’s Engine 53 arrived and started to attack the fire. While crew were fighting the fire the gas tank broke open sending burning fuel down the highway, crews quickly used extinguishers to put the fuel out but the fuel got into the storm drain. Squad 56 from Budd Lake teamed up with a engine from roxbury and set up a dike around the drain and starting checking other drains down the line. The Morris County Haz-Mat was called to the scene to assist with clean up. Crews were cleared up after one and a half hours. There were no injuries and the NJ State Police are investigating the fire.
