Flanders Fire Deploys a Fit 5 For a Quick Knock on a Furnace Fire : The early morning hours of October 18th the Flanders Fire Co. Was dispatched to Hermain Drive for the report of a furnace on fire. Upon arrival of Car 92 there was smoke showing from the eves of the house and after a quick investigation and confirming a working fire a second alarm was struck for Budd Lake Fire full assignment and Chester fire for the R.I.C. assignment. As companies were in service a Fit 5 was deployed in the basement witched knocked down the fire. Crews for engine 95 and Tower 96 stretched a line into the house and knocked down some hot spots and moped up. The home owner was transported to a local hospital with smoke inhalation by Flanders First Aiders. There were no other injuries at the scene and the fire in under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and the Mt. Olive Police. Photos By Kevin Maloney

Hackettstown Fire Handles Smoke Condition at Hospital : Saturday night October 3rd the Hackettstown Fire Fighters responded to Hackettstown Hospital for heavy smoke coming from the roof. As a precaution Ladders from Allamuchy, Schooleys Mountain and Washington Bro. Were called to the scene. Crews laddered the roof and quickly extinguished the fire as hospital staff secured the building and patients. Two Cats Rescued in Budd Lake Blaze : Saturday morning September 12th the Budd Lake Fire Department responded to 11 Timberline Ave. For the house fire. Chief Maloney arrived and reported a one story dwelling with smoke showing. Engine 53 stretched and inch and three quarter line and started knocking down the fire in the basement as Squad 56 started searches as there were reports of someone trapped in the house but after the searches were completed it was determined all were out of the house. Two cat in the home were rescued during the search. There were no hydrants in the area so a tender task force was despatched to the scene to supply water for the fire. There were no injuries at the fire and it is under investigation by the Mt. Olive Police and Fire Marshals office. Photo's By Kevin Maloney

Netcong Makes Quick Work of Commercial Building : Thursday afternoon the Netcong Fire Department responded to 134 Rt. 46 for the building fire. Firefighters found a fire in the rear of a vacant store with apartments in the rear. Firefighters made an aggressive attack and knocked down the fire before it spread to the rest of the building. Mutual aid was called from Budd Lake, Stanhope Bryam, Roxbury and Flanders fire companies. The fire damage two apartments and a basement storage area. Rt 46 was closed down for 2 hours as firefighters worked the fire.  Photos By Kevin Maloney

Roxbury firefighters Responded to Center Street in the Port Morris Section of Roxbury Township for the reported house fire. Mine Hill Battles Cold and Smoke : On December 7th Mine Hill firefighters were dispatched to Randolph Avenue for a report of a small fire in a home. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the basement of the one story home, gaining access to the basement was difficult for firefighters so a second alarm was dispatched to the scene from Dover, Wharton and Randolph fire companies who assisted Mine Hill units with cutting holes in the floor and roof as a heavy smoke condition started to fill the house. Hand lines were stretched to the first floor and basement. Companies were able to get holes in the floor so they could attack the fire and bring the blaze under control. The home owner suffered burns to his face and body and was transported to a local hospital. The fire was brought under control in abought one hour and is under investigation by the Mine Hill Police and Morris County Prosecutors Office. Photos by Kevin Maloney

Roxbury Firefighters Handle Late Night Vacant House Fire : Shortly after midnight on Thursday, October 30th the Roxbury Township Fire Companies responded to 343 Berkshire Valley Rd. For a large two storey vacant house that was heavily involved in fire. The first in chief had Roxbury’s 75 foot ladder pull up in the front of the building and start a water tower operation as several hand lines were stretched. The building was vacant so all operations were defensive only. Do to a lack of water in the area Tenders from several towns were dispatched to the scene to assist in a water shuttle operation. The fire was brought under control within two hours and is under investigation by the Roxbury Police, Fire Marshal and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. Photo's By Kevin Maloney

Budd Lake Attacks Stubborn Apartment Fire : Sunday night September 21st the Budd Lake Fire Company was dispatched to the Camelot Apartments for the report of a smell of smoke. First arriving Chiefs found smoke coming from a vent on the roof from a three story apartment building and a light smoke condition in two apartments, engine 53’s crew stretched a line to the second floor and started to pull some of the ceiling and found heavy fire between the second and third floors with extinction through a closet to the attack. Command called for a second alarm. Ladder 58 went to the roof and started a vent as companies worked all three floors opening up and hitting hot spots. Do to the heavy demand for manpower and the first in crews needing a rest command with the help of the Morris County Mutual Aid Coordinator sent out requests for additional engines and trucks. The fire was contained to three apartments and was under control in abought one hour. There were 3 injuries at the scene one resident was transported to the hospital with a breathing problem and two firefighters with minor injuries. Flanders, Netcong, Schooley’s Mt, Farimount, Long Valley, Hackettstown and Stanhope fire companies were on the scene with cover assignments from Bryam and Chester fire companies. The Budd Lake, Flanders and Long valley First Aid Squads assisted with rehab and EMS. Hackettstown and the Morris County air truck assisted with filling SCBA cylinders. Netcong Fire Dept. Handles a Small Condo Fire : Tuesday Morning around 6:00 am firefighters responded to Stonegate Dr. In Stanhope Netcong 28-60 arrived and established command. There was smoke coming from the rear of the condo and a second alarm was transmitted for Bryam Fire and Budd Lake Fire for the FAST assignment. Roxbury Fights Stubborn Gas Station Fire : Roxbury firefighters were called to the Kingtown Diesel gas station on Rt. 46 at around 10:50 am July 31st for the reported fire in the gas station. Upon arrival there were smoke and flames coming from the roof and side windows in the rear of the station. Roxbury Chief 1 took command and requested more help from Flanders, Budd Lake, Mt. Arlington and Netcong Fire Companies. Roxbury and Flanders tower ladders were put in service to the roof and crews started to cut holes and tear up the roofing material to extinguish the fire burning under the roof area. Due to the 80 degrees plus heat a rehab area was set up and crews were rotated in and out. Due to the lack of water in the area a draft was set up a cross Rt. 46 that shut down the highway for two hours. Hanover Township Fire Companies Battle Condo Fire : Hanover Fire Companies responded Saturday afternoon July 19th around 3:30 pm to the Oak Ridge at Hanover complex at 1205 Fox Chase Lane off of Parsippany Road in the Whippany fire district for the reported Condo on fire. Companies had heavy smoke, fire and extremely hot 90 plus weather to contend with so a large 13 department mutual aid response was ordered. With several hand lines and ladders in service the fire was brought under control in two hours. At least two condo units were destroyed during the fire. Fire departments and rescue squads from all over Morris County were on the scene, including Whippany, Cedar Knolls, Madison, Florham Park, East Hanover, Morris Twp., Chatham, Morristown, Lincoln Park, Roseland, New Vernon, Chatham Twp., Atlantic Health System Mobile Intensive Care Unit and Morris Plains. Two firefighters were sent to the hospital for unknown reasons. The fire is under investigation by the Hanover, police, the Morris County’s Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit and the county Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations unit. Photo's By Kevin Maloney

One Room Knock Down in Stanhope : Sunday late afternoon June 22nd the Stanhope Fire Department responded to 15 Hill Ave. for the house fire. Chief Donahue arrived and reported a working fire and requested the Netcong and Bryam fire departments for manpower as well as Budd Lake Fire for the FAST assignment. After a quick exterior knock down a crew went in and knocked down the rest of the fire and performed overhaul operations in the back bedroom. Chester Works Late Night Blaze : The early morning hours of May 17th brought several fire companies to Tanners Brook Dr. in Chester Township for the heavy involved house fire. First due units were faced with heavy fire and no water supply in the area the Chief quickly called for a Tender task force as companies laid a five inch supply line up the street. Flanders tower ladder arrived and set up in the front yard, as a defensive attack was started by the Chester units. Tenders started coming in and a steady water source established. Several companies were on the scene battling the blaze for hours. There was one burn injury on scene. The fire is under investigation by the Chester Township Police. Photos By Kevin Maloney

Roxbury Tackles Vacant House Fire : Friday night May 2nd around 10 pm the Roxbury Fire Companies responded to a report of a house fire on Dell Ave. In the Kenvil section of town. The first arriving Chief found a two and a half story wood frame vacant house fully involved in fire and instructed units to go to a defensive attack. Due to only one hydrant in the area that was a 3,000 feet lay the Tender task force was called in to set up a draft site to assist in the firefight. Mutual Aid Fire companies from Randolph, Netcong, Jefferson and Wharton  were called to the scene as well as several companies bringing Tenders. The fire was brought under control in two hours but companies remained on the scene for several hours hitting hot spots. The City of New Brunswick (NJ) Battles Two Alarm Row House Fire : New Brunswick Firefighters battled a two alarm fire in a rowhouse on Simplex Ave Wednesday morning around 7 am. Firefighters were just finishing up operating at a fire in a junk yard in the city when the call came in for the fire in a row of 10 homes on Simplex Ave, City firefighters were forced to use reserve apparatus and mutual aid to fight this fire, after attempting and interior attack firefighters were pulled from the building as the fire was in the cockloft and running the length of the houses. New Brunswick’s Ladder One and East Brunswick’s tower ladder were put into operation along with several handlines. 38 people were evacuated from the homes with no major injuries reported; the Red Cross was called to find shelter for the displaced residence. Mutual Aid was called from East Brunswick, East Franklin and Edison Fire Companies, the UMDNJ Special Services unit and the rehab unit was also called to assist with firefighter rehab. Roxbury Fights Stubborn Auto Shop Fire : Just After lunch on Monday, February 26th the Roxbury Fire Companies responded to 217 Berkshire Valley Road for the working fire in an auto shop. Upon arrival of first due companies the one story block building had heavy fire coming out the front garage doors and the side windows. Ladder 101 went to work with its stick and several hand lines were put into place. Mutual aid was also called from Jefferson, Mine Hill, Mount Arlington and Wharton Fire Companies to assist. The bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly but stubborn hot spots and roofing materials keep firefighters busy for hours. A Tanker task force from Morris County was called to the scene as well as the Morris County Haz-Mat team and a foam unit from the Picatinny Arsenal Fire Department. There were at least three vehicles destroyed buy the fire. The fire is under investigation by the Roxbury Police and Fire Marshals’ offices. There were no reported injuries at the scene. Mansfield NJ Battle Cold and Fire : Mansfield Township (Warren County) NJ
On the night of February 14th Mansfield Fire stations 26, 27,28, and 29 responded to a working house fire on Airport Road. First arriving units found a heavily involved structure fire a second alarm was called for bringing Hackettstown, Washington Bro And Schooleys Mountain Fire Companies to the scene. Firefighters made there way into the house when the floor gave way and three firefighters fell into the basement, conditions then got worse and several Mayday’s were called members of the Hackettstown Fire Department quickly pulled the firefighters to safety with the firefighters only receiving minor injuries. The incident commander then ordered everyone out and several hand lines were set up and the fire was under control in abought an hour. Several other Companies were called for station coverage. Budd Lake Makes Quick Work on Kitchen Fire : Tuesday afternoon March 25 the Budd Lake pagers rang out for a report of a kitchen fire at the Eagle Rock Village Apartments. Chief Maloney arrived and found a fire in the kitchen that started to take the cabinets and called for a second alarm that called in Flanders Fire, one engine from Schooleys Mt.and a FAST assignment from Netcong Fire. Engine 53 stretched a one and three quarter inch hand line in and made a quick knock down of the fire. Ladder 58 set up a fan and vented the apartment and checked the other apartments for extension. Oxford NJ Firefighters Battle Old Mill Fire : Oxford NJ Firefighters Battle Old Mill Fire
March 21st was a long one for Oxford Township firefighters who were dispatched to and old mill type building on Main St. For the building fire. Arriving units found a Three story 200' X 300' mill type building with heavy fire showing and a one story 100' X 300' building that was also burning. The buildings were under going demolition so command on the scene called for reenforcements for the long defensive  night ahead as many master streams were being put in place Washington Bro’s Arial Scope and Hackettstown’s Tower ladder were set up and a water source from hydrants and a draft was set up from a stream to keep up with the demand for water. At one point in the fire there was fire out every window and the roof. Many mutual aid companies were dispatched to the fire as well as cover assignments. Washington Borough Fights Hotel Fire : Washington Borough Fights Hotel Fire

Thursday night around 11:00 pm the Washington Borough Fire Company (Warren County) was dispatched to 33 West Washington Ave. For a  report that the St. Cloud Hotel was on fire. Upon arrival the companies made at least two rescues and then conditions got worse and firefighters were forced out and a  major defensive attack was under way. The fire went to six alarms, four alarms brought fourteen engine companies and six ladder companies and several special pieces along with a second alarm Tanker Task Force do to low water presser. Fire spread quickly throughout the 100 year old building with stores on the ground floor and the hotel above and then extended to a bank on the B side but firefighters kept it from the house on the D side. Two firefighters were injured in the blaze and taken to an area hospital. Firefighters worked throughout the night to contain the fire. Saturday afternoon the Budd Lake Fire Department responded to 20 Woodsedge Ave. For smoke coming from a garage. Car 50 Chief Nelson arrived and transmitted a working fire in a one story two car-detached garage. Engine 53 arrived and stretched an inch and three quarter line into the garage and started knocking down the fire as Squad 56's crew used a saw to open the front garage doors for better access. The fire was knocked down in 15 minutes there were no injuries at the scene but the garage and a car inside suffered extensive damage. Wednesday afternoon the Flanders Fire Co. Responded to Building 33 in the Oakwood Village Apartment complex for the kitchen fire. The first arriving Chief reported a working fire in the apartment and called for assistance from the Budd Lake Fire Co. The fire was then quickly knocked down by Flanders Tower 96 as Squad 56 and Engine 53 were arriving to assist with salvage and overhaul operations. The fire apartment and the adjacent apartment were damaged in the fire. There were no injuries reported at the scene and the Red Cross was called to assisted with finding shelter for two families. Budd Lake Fights House Fire : Budd Lake Fights House Fire

Friday, August 17th was a busy day for firefighters. Firefighters started out at 4:30am with a tractor trailer crash that shut down Rt. 46 for eight hours flowed up by a Haz-Mat call and a second crash on Rt. 46 sending two to the hospital then around 4:00pm a reported of a house fire came in at the corner of Sandshore Rd. and Netcong Rd. First arriving chiefs found a 2-story wood frame with fire in the rear of the house. The home owners were saying that someone was still in the house so Assistant Chief Maloney did a quick search and found a male sleeping on the second floor and evacuated him from the house. Squad 56 arrived shortly there after and stretched a one inch and three quarter hand line to the rear of the house and quickly knocked down the fire as a second crew went up stairs and did a search and found all people were out of the house. The fire was brought under control in a half hour there were no injuries at the scene. Flanders, Netcong and Schooley’s Mt. Fire companies along with Flanders and Budd Lake First Aid Squads were called to assist. Firefighters ended the day with a third car crash on Rt. 46 sending one to the hospital. Two Working Fires Keep Randolph Fire Companies Busy : Two Working Fires Keep Randolph Fire Companies Busy

Friday turned out to be a busy day for Randolph Firefighters after cleaning up from a fire in a basement in the area of Quaker bridge Rd. The bells rang again for a house fire at # 7 Sandy Lane, firefighters faced heavy fire coming from the front of the house. The first arriving Chief called for mutual aid from Denville and Roxbury fire companies for manpower and FAST teams. Firefighters stretched lines into the house and laddered the roof for venting and had the fire under control in forty minutes. Atlantic Health Care unit 6105 and Mendham 
Township provided EMS coverage for the fire there were no reported injuries and the fire is under investigation by the Randolph Police and Fire Marshals office.

Perth Amboy Fights Commercial Fire : Perth Amboy Fights Commercial Fire 1/23/2008

Wednesday morning around 6:00am the Perth Amboy Fire Department responded to the corner of Convery Blvd. And Sayre Ave for the building fire. Firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions in a one story cabinet factory. The chief called for a second alarm and shortly after a third alarm due to low water pressure. Firefighters put several hand lines in place as well as a tower ladder from Carteret fire and the two Perth Amboy ladders. Mutual Aid was called from Carteret, South Amboy and Woodbridge Fire Companies. Perth Amboy rescue squad along with several mutual aid EMS and the Red Cross assisted with rehab do to the cold temperatures.
